From the modern architecture of Baku to the ancient rock carvings of Gobustan, Azerbaijan offers an exceptional travel experience. So, here's a 6-day itinerary that will help you explore the best of Azerbaijan, brought to you by Almosafer.

Day 1: Arrival in Baku

Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Baku. Check in to your hotel and rest. In the evening, take a stroll along Baku Boulevard, which runs parallel to Baku's seafront. Don't miss the Baku Ferris Wheel for a panoramic view of the city.

Day 2: Explore Baku

Start your day with a visit to the Old City, or Icheri Sheher, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a summer residence of the Shirvanshahs during the Middle Ages, then head to the iconic Maiden Tower. In the afternoon, visit the Heydar Aliyev Center, known for its distinctive architecture and vast collection of art and history. End your day with a visit to the Flame Towers, the tallest skyscrapers in Azerbaijan.

Day 3: Gobustan National Park and Mud Volcanoes

Take a day trip to Gobustan National Park, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its rock carvings dating back to 40,000 years. Here, you can also witness a mud volcano eruption, a unique geological phenomenon.

Day 4: Absheron Peninsula

Visit the Absheron Peninsula. Start with the Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historical religious site for Zoroastrians. Next, head to the Yanar Dag, also known as the burning mountain, a natural gas fire that blazes continuously on a hillside. Wrap up the day with a visit to the Gala Open Air Museum, a complex of museums in Baku.

Day 5: Sheki

Take a day trip to Sheki, a beautiful city nestled into the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Visit the Sheki Khans’ Palace, famous for its magnificent frescoes and stained glass windows. Explore the local marketplace and try some local cuisine. Don't miss the opportunity to walk to the middle of the city, where you can admire the plane trees and the colored glass of the local architecture.

Day 6: Departure

Spend your last day in Baku exploring local markets for souvenirs. Try some local Azerbaijani cuisine, like Plov, a traditional rice dish, or Dolma, a dish made with minced meat wrapped in grape leaves. Later, head to the airport for your departure.
